I’ve Lived Hair Loss.
At 17, I had a severely receded hairline. It did not go unnoticed or uncommented upon by my peers.
The dating world was absolutely brutal.
Swimming? A tactical nightmare.
Pools, rain, group photos—pure fucking anxiety.
By my early 20s, I was getting mistaken for middle-aged. I can’t grow a beard. I’m short. I’ve got a Megamind head. On my best day, I’m average-looking. And I never had any standout talent or physical trait to compensate for being bald.
I’ve done it all:
• Two hair transplants
• Scalp micropigmentation
• Topical + oral minoxidil
• Finasteride, dutasteride, RU58841
• Dermastamping
• Optimized vitamin stacks to squeeze out every follicle of potential
I’ve tried to let it go and own my look by shaving my head—even if it didn’t really match who I felt like on the inside.
My point isn’t to complain and say woe is me. But my point is to quickly convince you that whatever you are dealing with regarding hair loss… I understand. I’ve been there. Dealing with hair loss—especially at a young age—is hard. It can be expensive, especially if you chose a famously “lucrative” career in education like myself. And it’s certainly hard to see your self-worth clearly and make rational decisions under a cloud of insecurity and fear.
I’ve wasted years of joy and mental energy letting hair follicles dictate my quality of life.
I’ve gotten bad advice from doctors.
I’ve read the Reddit rabbit holes.
I’ve dealt with pay-to-play clinics and influencer hacks pushing affiliate bullshit.
The internet is flooded with information, but somehow it’s still a nightmare to navigate.
Everywhere you turn, someone’s trying to profit off your insecurity.
And just when you think you’ve found clarity, some keyboard warrior tells you, “You have to choose—your dick or your hair.”
So, I wanted an outlet to share my experience—not just to help you, but, hell, as a positive outlet for my own struggle, which is still ongoing, as hair loss is dynamic and certainly changes over the decades.
Dude, Where’s My Hair focuses on research-centric advice. RCTs and meta-analyses are always my starting point—but I’ve learned that medical research isn’t the whole story. Profits often drive what treatments get pushed onto insecure men, and what benefits a company isn’t always what’s best for the guy actually losing his hair.
So while I lead with science and hard data, I believe anecdotal evidence still deserves a seat at the table.
I hope this site helps you. I hope it encourages you. And I hope it gives you the confidence to make the best decisions for yourself going forward. You’re not alone. You can shave your head and be confident—but you can also very likely preserve your hair if you are proactive and consistent. There is hope. And my hope is that this site helps you navigate the noise of hair loss.
